What is “wood canvas”?
The base of our business card sign is a wood canvas made from basswood. Picture a traditional painters canvas stretched on a wood frame but instead the edges and face of the “canvas” are made of basswood. The result is a sturdy wood sign able to stand on its own. With no back, our signs are lightweight, and could be hung on the wall if you prefer.
The Options Explained:
The base price of our Business Card Signs includes a natural wood (non painted) background with engraved text. The photograph of the Wawrzyniak Christmas sign shows what the engraving looks like on the natural background. If you want more contrast choose “White Painted Background”. The “Kind Matter Co.” sign with the brown words show what the engraving looks like when the background is painted white. Choosing to include 3D (3-dimensional) elements adds interest and greatly increases the visual effect of the sign. Typically we suggest making the logo and the social media icons 3-dimensional, but your designer will work with you to determine what will look best for your sign. You can further choose to have the 3D elements painted or left natural, or a combination of both. Once we receive your order, our designer will contact you with the design file to approve before we engrave.Â
What happens once I order my business card sign?
Our designer will take all of the information you provided and create a design file. This is a computer file that shows the placement of the engraving on the sign and which elements are 3D (if you chose that option). If there are any changes required, let us know, and we will alter the file and re-send it to you. Once you are happy with the design, just let us know it is approved and we can start the engraving process. Â
Inspiration Photos:
Inspiration photos can help us bring your vision to life. The more information you give us, the better. Do you like script font or block font? Do you like embellishments like scrolls or flourishes? Not sure what I’m talking about? Don’t worry. Our designer will send you some ideas and we can tweak the design until you are happy with it. It is important to note that we cannot engrave designs, quotes, or lyrics that are protected by copyright law without the written consent of the person who owns it.

More about our Turnaround Times
Our standard (free) turnaround time is 10 business days. Business days are Monday to Friday not including statutory holidays. As always, we will strive to complete orders as soon as possible. When you check the “when do you need this” box, you are ensuring your order will be engraved and ready to pick up or ship by that date. Please note that shipping times are not included so please plan accordingly. For fastest turnaround times, chose “Milton Pick Up” on checkout. We will contact you immediately if we are unable to meet your time lines.
Standard turnaround times may increase depending on season. Typically this happens in November, December, July & August. During these times, rush orders may not be available. For the most up to date information, and advanced warnings when this my occur, please sign up for our email list.
